ABOUT THE AUTHOR

'The Bumper Book of 4000 Original Quotations and Aphorisms'

Born in Cornwall (‘41) raised in Yorkshire, this former ‘Sergeant - at - Mace’ to the

Lord Mayor’s of Leeds (21 years) now ekes out a living as a Fellow of the Association of Professional Toastmasters (Weddings, Bar-Mitvahs and Law Society Banquets a speciality).


In his off duty moments Richard devotes time to musical composition (mainly liturgical) writing, and, when his wife permits, quaffing Guinness (mainly on Thursdays).


A past Prime Warden of the Guild of Mace-Bearers (`85) and recipient of the Papal Cross,

`Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice` (a classic example of mistaken identity) the author is married to

the saintly (and near perfect) Gillian, has four daughters, and an extremely modest bank account!
